Artists of all different mediums across Porlock Vale have welcomed the creation of a new arts trail which aims to highlight their work to visitors and residents alike.

Porlock Vale Art Trail, which launches in June, will be a permanent trail that takes in a variety of different works from across the Vale villages.  From potters, weavers, woodmakers, blacksmiths, silversmiths, handmade glass, specialist crafters, jewellers, photographers, ceramicists to portrait and landscape painters, 23 different artisans are featured on the trail in Porlock, Porlock Weir, Bossington, Allerford, Selworthy, Wootton Courtenay, Ford and Luccombe.

The new art trail, which has been set up by Porlock Visitor Centre, will be officially launched on June 26th when, for one day only, 15 additional pop-up venues will also be open from 10am to 4pm, with amateur and professional artists displaying their work around the Vale. The event starts with a Town Cry at 10.00 a.m. at St Dubricius Church and where you can observe Terry Gable painting during the day.  There are further exhibits and demonstrations throughout Porlock Vale Villages including weaving, antler carving, jewellery making, felting, handmade glass, ceramics, photographers and a great opportunity for children to take part in their own mini theatrical production at the Old School Orchard in the afternoon.  In Wootton Courtenay, for one day only, there is an exhibition in the Village Hall as well as further exhibits in the village by innovative photographers, painters, ceramicists and jewellers.

Full details of all exhibitors and Art Trail leaflets, which feature a map drawn by local artist Terry Gable, are available at Porlock Visitor Centre and are also distributed throughout Porlock Vale shops, campsites, pubs, cafes as well as Minehead, Watchet, Dunster, Dulverton, Taunton and Lynmouth information centres.
