Porlock & exmoor night

Good Morning Everyone

The Visitor Centre has kindly reminded me tonight is highlight Porlock and Exmoor night on TV!   It’s great to have any publicity for Porlock and we’re especially grateful for Ben’s ongoing support to champion Porlock, so maybe relax, get a glass of something and enjoy some TV publicity on Porlock and our area.

Ben McGrail from ITV West Country News is coming to film in Porlock and Ben will be finding out about what our hopes are for the future.  What that means for a shop owner, tourism, business and just people in general.  Our very own Chris De Vere Hunt ( Porlock Home and Hardware), Terry Gable (our fabulous local artist) and Paul and Mel McGee from Lorna Doone Hotel will be appearing.

The piece is scheduled to air on ITV West Country News at 6.00 p.m. on Friday evening.

An then later on Channel 5 this Friday 8pm, Kate Humble’s Coastal Britain, episode 1. Exmoor.  Kate is walking the South West Coast Path and is starting on Exmoor.  The link is below for a preview of Kate Humble’s programme.

If you need help with any of the following activities or even just a friendly chat in these difficult times please call 07871 925910:

Emergency shopping

Collecting prescriptions

Supplying emergency meals

Emergency dog walking

Emergency looking after a dog (eg if owner rushed to hospital)

Library book exchange

Clearing snow or removing fallen tree branches

Befriending an individual

Delivering emergency medical supplies (eg oxi-meter).

The Good Neighbour Scheme will work in the same way as PALS, if you have something you need help with please call 07871 925910 and provide your details and then a suitable volunteer will respond to your request.

During the current pandemic the volunteers will not enter any premises and can only provide the activities listed at this time.

This scheme is a permanent arrangement and further activities will be added in due course.

We have a list of volunteers but are always pleased to have more. Volunteers can always decline a request for any reason.

We know that most people already have their own good neighbours, but circumstances change and if you feel you need help with anything please contact the above number.

If you have any questions at all please let me know.
